After the matte is generated, changing the background is instant because the model does not need to process the source again.
Remove the background without a green screen
The tool separates a person from the surrounding scene using AI portrait matting, so ordinary footage works — no chroma key or studio setup required. It does not erase a selected object and reconstruct the pixels hidden behind it. For the cleanest result, use footage with a clearly visible person, steady lighting, and reasonable contrast between clothing and the background.

Do I need a green screen?
No. The AI estimates a person matte directly from normal footage. A green screen can still improve edge quality, but it is not required.
Does DojoClip upload my video?
No. The model is downloaded to your browser and your source video is processed locally on your device.
Can I select a product, pet, or other object?
Not in this version. MODNet is designed for people. Arbitrary object selection and object erasing require different models.
Can I download a transparent video?
Browser support for transparent video encoding is inconsistent. This version exports the person composited over your selected background.
Why do hair or fast-moving edges sometimes look soft?
Portrait matting estimates partial transparency around fine details. Motion blur, low contrast, and heavy compression can reduce edge quality.
