Turn audio into readable text

Get the words from a voice memo, interview excerpt or video, then edit and save them.

One audio or video file · Up to 50 MB and 10 minutes

Your recording stays on this device. No account required.

A voice memo you can read and reuse

Turn a short spoken update into text for your notes. Play the recording while correcting names and punctuation, then copy the finished wording or save a TXT file. Use Reset text to return to the initial transcript.

Get your transcript

  1. Choose the recording and its spoken language.
  2. Select Get transcript and keep the page open. A model may need to download first.
  3. Read, correct and copy the text, or download TXT.

Audio-to-text questions

Which files can I transcribe?

Choose one audio or video file up to 50 MB and 10 minutes. Try browser-readable MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, Ogg, Opus, MP4, MOV or WebM with mono or stereo audio. Codec support varies by browser; a filename extension alone does not guarantee compatibility.

Do I need to extract the audio from my video first?

No. You can select the video directly. The tool reads its audio locally and returns text; it does not produce a new video or change the original recording.

Which language should I choose?

Choose English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean or Chinese. Choose the language being spoken, not a translation language. Recognition quality varies with the recording and language.

Is it free, and is my recording uploaded?

Transcription, editing, copying and TXT download are free without an account. The speech model downloads on first use, but your recording is processed on your device. Processing speed depends on the device, model download and recording length.

Can I correct mistakes or make subtitles?

Listen to the source and edit the text, especially names and unclear words. Reset text restores the initial recognized text. This page does not identify speakers, translate or summarize. Use Add Subtitles to Video for timed captions and SRT/VTT output.

Will my text be saved if I leave?

Copy or download the TXT before leaving, refreshing or choosing another file. Nothing is saved as a cloud project. You can cancel a run and retry; an earlier transcript remains available if a repeated run is cancelled or fails.
